Walking in China town, wonderful to see how Mauritius is multicultural
MY TRAVELS

Walking in Chinatown with my grandparents, it was amazing to see a Muslim Mosque in front of the China town gate. Mauritius is known to be a multicultural country with very good tolerance for each other's culture, background, religion, belief, ... I am not quite sure how people were in terms of my autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Some seem to not know about ASD or would know about the word autism but not the details. Others seem to not be bothered at all, I was just a kid walking around with my grandparents. Others seem curious to understand more about my ASD or would ask if it is the same as Trisomy 21 without the physical traits. And some seem to be scared not knowing how to approach me fearing I would have a meltdown.
It did not really matter to me as I felt safe, walking and skipping with my popo (grandmother) holding my right hand, and my koungkoung (grandfather) holding my left hand. I enjoy going out for walks with them. They would buy me food that I like, they would be singing with me as we walk, and they have such calming positive auras that make me feel calm and safe with them.
Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius is quite noisy with visual clutter and mixed odours. At first mum would give me my noise cancelling headphone, my chewlery, my fidget toys, and my calming perfume on, but over time I have learned to cope with the different noises. The sudden car honking, the people speaking loudly, the cars driving by, the construction noises, ... The visual clutter was a major issue but now I enjoy watching the movement and busy bees activity around me. People are interesting to watch from afar. I am well protected walking with my popo and koung-koung, holding their hands. And also, having food in my mouth helps as it give me the sensory seeking calming effect.
